ĐÀ NẴNG – The inner city released the COVID-19 patient 135 after 18 days of treatment in the general hospital on Friday after having tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 three times.
The 27-year-old patient, who flew to Đà Nẵng from Bangkok, Thailand on March 21, was isolated for 14 days under strict medical supervision at HCM City’s Chợ Rẫy Hospital.
“I was impressed with the care and treatment I received from the doctors and nurses at the hospital. They reserved the best service and treatment for me during the 18 days and saved me from the disease, ”she said.

“I am so happy to be able to leave the hospital today and would like to thank all medical staff for their unrestricted care,” she added.
The director of the hospital, Doctor Lê Đức Nhân, said: “It has been an endless effort by a team of 45 doctors, nurses and medical staff in the tropical department since the first positive result came to the hospital.
“The patient is the sixth and last COVID-19 patient to leave town after days of treatment in good health. The hospital had received extensive medical help from the city and the Ministry of Health to cure COVID-19 patients, ”said Nhân.
“She is the last COVID-19 patient in town, but it is not the last case for us. We will continue to fight for new patients in the coming days,” said Doctor Phạm Ngọc Hàm, head of the tropical diseases department in the hospital .
Doctor Hàm and his medical team spent 32 days in hospital starting March 7, treating six COVID-19 patients – two British, one American and three Vietnamese.
He said the six hospitalized COVID-19 patients were not serious cases. They had no cardiovascular problems, high blood pressure, pneumonia or diabetes before being infected with SARS-CoV-2, he added.

All 45 medical workers are now isolated for 14 days in a city-reserved hotel. However, they are on duty when new cases are admitted.
“The fight goes on. We will try to heal all patients. It is our job and mission, ”said Hàm.
To date, 11 COVID-19 patients (7 British, one American) have been discharged from hospitals in Đà Nẵng, Quảng Nam and Thừa Thiên-Huế since the beginning of March.
It’s also been 17 days since the central region reported a new case of SARS-CoV-2.
The central coastal provinces of Bình Định, Phú Yên, Quảng Ngãi and Quảng Trị have not yet reported positive cases. – VNS
